Seeking Direction: Do the last thing God told you to do.

Interesting thought, right? I thought so too.

A few months ago I got to thinking, “What am I waiting for? What am I so afraid of?”

I kept putting the things that I knew God was telling me to do and had impressed on my heart to pursue – on the back burner, in the back of my mind. Why? Because I honestly wasn’t even sure if I had what it took to do it and to do it at a high standard, on top of that, the end result/product felt a b-i-i-i-t overwhelming. Can anyone relate?

It wasn’t too long after this, while I was in prayer about direction, wanting to be used by God, and doing what God wanted me to do, that I realized He had already told me what we wanted me to do and where he was leading me – I was just “dancing” around it, when I really needed to “set myself in motion” (that can be the hardest part, getting started).

How can we move forward if we’re not progressively moving along the direction that God is leading us – no matter how uncomfortable we may feel? With God, we can do all things!

Within your heart you can make plans for your future,
but the Lord chooses the steps you take to get there. - Proverbs 16:9 TPT

There is no better route to take in life than one that is being led by God. If we were to avoid what God is calling us to do because of fear or feeling inadequate, we may never come to know who we really are and what we are capable of doing in God!

This reminds me of Moses (in Exodus chapter 3 & 4), after God told him He is going to use Moses to appear before Pharaoh and to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt to the promise land. What a weighty calling! It didn’t come without uncertainty from Moses either – he protested God and asked “who am I…”? and saying “I’m not very good with words…”.

The greatest part about this is when God reassures him over and over again saying, “I will be with you…” and “I Am Who I Am has sent you…” – Wow, that is so powerful! Moses felt inadequate for such a high calling but God had much different plans and it didn’t involve how Moses felt in that moment but who God made Moses to be through Him and what He had already put into Moses’ hand was God’s focus – He chose Moses.

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.

– Psalm 32:8 NLT

What has God placed in your hand?

Maybe it’s the idea to start a project? The blueprint to build that business? The opportunity to begin that school program? The title of your first book you’ve been sitting on to write? The conviction to end that relationship/friendship because God is calling you closer to Him? Or maybe it’s to show more compassion and patience to your spouse, to finally give to that one ministry, to wake up earlier to finish that task – etc.

Whatever it is, there are people, opportunities and blessings on the other side of your obedience to the “last thing God told you to do”. For me, one of the things God said was to pick up and be faithful to this blog – and look, you are here! Be encouraged and know you are more than capable!

I believe in you and remember God is w i t h y o u.

Your progress will have no limits when you come along with me,
and you will never stumble as you walk along the way. - Proverbs 4:12 TPT

Love & Blessings,
